Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos
![]() ![]() well this is my first post bumping this thread so after a long year finally the 2nd movie was released and subbed recently, I'm just done watching it and I have to recognize I enjoyed more its plot and new characters (glad they went back to the well known cast with the Elric brothers still searching for clues to regain their bodies) than Conqueror of Shamballa (which I didn't like much how it "ended" after continue the first TV series)... though the animation quality and music isn't as good for a studio Bones film compared to the first one so I give it 9/10, I don't think the franchise ends with this but just in case here goes the updated list about all the FMA anime adaptations I have watched: Fullmetal Alchemist (Hagane no Renkinjutsushi) TV series 51 eps. 2003-2004: 9/10 FMA Special Reflections (recap of the 1st TV series narrated by its cast) 2005: 6/10 FMA Movie Conqueror of Shamballa (Gekijōban HnR Shanbara o Yuku Mono): 8/10 FMA OVAs (HnR Kids, Alchemists vs. Homunculi, Chibi Party, Liveaction) 2006: 7/10 FMA Brotherhood aka Shintetsu (HnR FMA) 2nd TV series 64 eps. 2009-2010: 10/10 FMAB OVAs (Blind Alchemist, Simple People, Teacher's Tale, Another's battle): 8/10 FMAB 4-Koma Theater 16 short TV eps. Bah, what is it with FMA and the "tradition" to release a subpar, non-canon movie after a good series. While admittedly better than the trainwreck that Shambala was (the writing, at least, was decent), the movie still didn't fit in the setting. Bat costumes and modern-looking rifles, magic-like alchemy... And then there's the rather shoehorned appearances of the "mandatory" characters who didn't play much of a role in the plot at all.
Also, maybe it's just me being too picky, but in many places the animation quality looked kind of crude, especially for a theatrical release. Heck, I almost think I remember the series looking better. This post has been edited by Ausdoerrt on Feb 13 2012, 03:10 AM |

I don't think its just you being too picky. i was thinking the same in some parts on how the art looked a bit rough at times. i was still able to enjoy the.movie quite a bit though. i wasn't expecting he movie to add anything new to the series, but just be a fun romp with ed and alphonse again. feels like.this might be the last.of.the fullmetal franchise so we might not see much of these characters again.

I watched the film. Quite frankly it adds nothing to the lore. The story for me was hard to follow/not engaging, to the point where half way through I gave up and decided to just watch it for the action set pieces.
The thing I couldnt stop focusing on was Ed's hair. Just horrible animation at times. And if someone like me can notice it, it must be really bad. By the time they rode off into the sunset I couldnt help but feel melancholic. This was probably the last hurrah but I just wish it was more memorable. ![]() "If you truly love something, the most romantic thing you can do is kill it" Best superhero show ever! |
