So he finally found the PC. I guess it was himself who said that a young man would come for it. I mean its always like that in Timetravel shows.
Best part was defenitely when Kyouma said "Daru is like the Universe - constantly expanding." XD I had to laugh so hard. I hope there will be more of those lines. |

There wasn't really a heavy focus to begin with, and the show's very tongue-in-cheek. The one moment in ep. 2 was just one tedious little thing they had to get over with to make sure they don't alienate non-SF fans and make sure they understand the basics of classic time travel. It was tedious because there's obviously not much effort put in to adapt story-telling from VN style to TV-show style. Therefore, we got a very slow start with all the world-building crammed in a few condensed "info" scenes, and much more focus on character interaction. Thankfully, the pace is finally picking up and will hopefully stay that way.
No, it's most likely not himself. It's most likely John Titor, who, as you might remember, first showed up "10 years ago" according to Okarin's memory - same time as when the PC was handed down to the shrine. Then he probably closed the loop in some way that eliminated any evidence of his existence in that time. That is, of course, unless Okarin himself IS Titor - which is not unlikely. I guess we'll have to see that if/when the two meet. |

okarin's way of speaking is so funny, he and Christina make great comedy duo.
btw will the anime spoile everthing for the game? |

I really love this show.
I think I have already found my protagonist of the year in Kyouma. His boastful yet deluded behaviour feels very reminiscent to me. Could someone tell me who the VA is because I think he has a very versatile voice. As for the episode, I found it to be awesome in my humble opinion. We get to see how far the rabbit hole goes. In reality, the episode consisted of Daru setting up a computer and the gang reading reports. When an anime can make mundane activities this enjoyable, your on to a winner. About the jellified humans, I just had flashbacks of dragonballz when Goku was training under 100x of earth's gravity. I guess in the real world, there are no such things as super saiyans who can survive the laws of physics. Super gravity compression where your bones turn to mush and you organs become a jelly paste, is a horrible way to die. On a side note I prefer Kurisu wearing her normal jacket round her shoulders, it gives her a nonchalant demeanour. Daru also needs to keep up the good work with the constant innuendos. I think this show is definitely the dark horse of the season. I am trying to be heroic...in an age of modernity I am trying to be heroic As all around me...history sinks So I enjoy and I devour Flesh and wine and luxury But in my heart...I am lukewarm Nothing ever...really touches me Best superhero show ever! |

Could it be that the parttimer is maybe Titor? She is really strange and says stuff that only makes sense if a timetraveler says it.
The part about the labcoat was just awesome. And Kurisu looks a lot hotter in it than with her jacket. I really wonder where this anime will be going since I totally cant see a "war" against SERN or something along the line. |

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encycloped...le.php?id=10397 Can't say I'm very familiar with his work, the only anime with him I saw within a year was G00, and his role there was one of a tacit protagonist, not exactly memorable.
The episode made it kind of obvious she's from some sort of "dark future" or w/e. Whether she's Titor or not is debatable, though not unlikely. ------------------------ Anyway, the show's plot is finally picking up, though it still remains to be seen how well it presents the rest of the story. One significant thing we saw this ep was the birth of the VN-esque "route split", a dangerous thing to tackle for a show, as many other VN adaptations seem to suggest. Let's just hope they learn from others' mistakes and try to present a coherent story rather than appease VN fans. |

Actually Yagami Light from Death Note would be his MOST notable role and notable he had a similar deluded behavior in this show too. Miyano, Mamoru He sounded familiar to me too. Other than yeah I seem also have taken a liking to him, not maybe the best word to describe him but he has a charismatic feel to him despite being delusional. Imai, Asami Anyways A big surprise for was Makise, Kurisu her voice was familiar to me too. She voiced Chihaya, Kisaragi from IdolM@ster no wonder she felt familiar she's one of my favorite characters too and notably she is my fav character here too besides Okab- I mean Hououin Kyoooooouuuma. Plus I like her previous outfit the one were she wore the jacket This post has been edited by lavenderdays on May 05 2011, 08:56 AM |

Ah! Now that explains it. Cheers for the info. |

Steins Gate does NOT have routes. Its not an eroge novel. It does not have any routes and it has a fixed ending AS for Miyano Mamoru...SERIOUSLY? never EVER heard of him?Raito/Light from Death Note and MOST importantly, Kiba from Wolfs Rain(which is already among the classics like x/1999) and Setsuna from Gundam 00. Thats not even mentioning his non-anime roles in dubbing movies like Watchmen or his musical carrier. He is ONE name everyone would know. |
|
i just started the reading the VN but according to walkthrough, steins gates does have "routes", each character has their own ending, even the gay miko. it is like G senjou no Maou. after the first few chapter, each chapter has a sub alternative route dedicate to each heroine. by pursuing the sub route, you abandon the true end.

Like I said, never seen D.N. or Wolf's Rain, and Setsuna is one of the most flat/boring characters in anime history and not exactly memorable. |

So Kiryuu joined the lab too. And she even seems to know something about either the one Kyouma pretends to speak to or the organisation he pretends to fight.
I can only state again that Kurise looks totally hot in the labsuit, especially at the end when you see her half-wearing it. IT was only from behind but too sexy already. From the front wouldve been overkill. And Im pretty sure a certain someone was smiling when he heard about the Yuri Field. Only if this certain someone is still following this anime of course. My Animelist Top 5 of currently airing TV-series:(03.06.11) 1. Deadman Wonderland 2. Steins;Gate 3. Dog Days 4. Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai 5. Tiger & Bunny (long time runs not included) |

So episode 6.
I did like Kyouma's "Nostalgia Drive." Sounds like something from a bad shounen or as Daru pointed out from an emo teenager. Ultimately, Delorean mail or D-mail was an apt name since I liked the reference to the Back to the future franchise. As for Daru and his meeting with Moeka was priceless, I guess it is back to 2d girls for him. The parttime shopkeeper is definitely giving off a "Kyle Reese" vibe though her problem with Kurisu is all but speculation at this moment. The most interesting part was Kyouma having pangs of regrets in getting Mayuri involved in this. It was definitely a foreboding moment. The tone of the anime has been overtly humourous but with a subtext of sinister intentions afoot. Honestly, I would really hate it if one of Kyouma's delusions came true and this organisation he keeps going on about, suddenly raids his apartment. That would be somewhat terrifying and destroy the tone set thus far. Although, Im pretty much sure he pretends to talk about organisations and swiss bank accounts to a non-existent person on the phone as a self-defence mechanism when he is embarrassed. I am trying to be heroic...in an age of modernity I am trying to be heroic As all around me...history sinks So I enjoy and I devour Flesh and wine and luxury But in my heart...I am lukewarm Nothing ever...really touches me Best superhero show ever! |

I think thats whats gonna happen though. It says so in the synopsis of the anime. Plus, if we dont get some action and suspense soon, it could get boring. So far it is entertaining to gather the pieces of information and trying to make sense of it, but at some point something must happen. Although that said, in the night head genesis nothing really happened, so who knows... |
|
Actually, we're getting more than enough suspense, it's just the action that's lacking. |

Another very solid episode.
Nice to see the confirmation of parallel shifting time travel being the one used there, however its interesting that the "cause" would not remember it either, which is obvious, since The Okabe Rintaro that sent the message still remains in that timeline and this is Okabe Rintaro who never sent it. Maybe his consciousness, much like messages, is capable of being sent or more like remain in place as the reality shifts? Also nice to see demonstration of butterfly effect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_Effect This is what happened with Dr.Pepper bottle and I bet the chain reaction of that message is still happening. |
|
Erm wow.
Time travel theory introduced, Lab members established, now here comes the hard part. Keeping track of world lines and time shifts. With events like memories traversing world lines and reality warping events becoming a daily occurrence, Kyouma cant afford to be delusional or he will quickly lose his sanity. The tone has shifted quite radically. Less comedy more dramatic overtones. I am now watching with a sense of dread. Its obvious Kyouma is over his head and is heading for sure disaster. One more thing, Ive never really given Mayuri any thought since this anime began and like most people thought she was pointless. But since Kyouma started having regrets about her involvement, I started looking at her more carefully. She reminds me of the Eloi in H.G Wells The Time Machine. Small, elegant, hysterically cute and obliviously ignorant. She is pretty much ripe for tragedy to strike. Since time is presented here to be non-linear, the first episode when Kyouma memories traversed world lines, is the end of the anime and him trying to prevent Kurisu death, so why wouldnt he remember that but remember the lotto ticket? The rabbit hole gets deeper. I am trying to be heroic...in an age of modernity I am trying to be heroic As all around me...history sinks So I enjoy and I devour Flesh and wine and luxury But in my heart...I am lukewarm Nothing ever...really touches me Best superhero show ever! |

Now Im even more sure that the part-timer is John Titor. It must be someone who knows Kyouma or else he wouldnt believe all that, even thought he is a time-traveler too. And since its almost confirmed she is a time-traveler and she could hear everything she is the one who is the nearest to beeing John Titor. But I think shes not the John Titor who appeared in the year 2000. Shes just borrowing the name so that Kyouma believes in her. After all he was the only one who knew who John Titor is.
If Kyouma really went back into the past its not that surprising for me that he still knows whats happened. Why should he lose the memory? I mean John Titor himself could remember. My Animelist Top 5 of currently airing TV-series:(03.06.11) 1. Deadman Wonderland 2. Steins;Gate 3. Dog Days 4. Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai 5. Tiger & Bunny (long time runs not included) |
|
All of that is actually made a lot more confusing. Since each time travel causes a butterfly effect, We might not be sure if the changes we are going to see or saw through episodes are actually from one or from multiple "chain reaction waves" interacting with each other. |
|
Yea. Ugh. Lol. I just hope its not going to be like Ashton Kutcher where he is able to keep his memories because of genetics. That would be somewhat unscientific. |
