Kawakami City is famous for its strong dedication to its samurai ancestors. A healthy fighting spirit is always valued and it's even an important factor for success at school. Yamato, a second year student from Kawakami High School is always with his close friends (4 boys and 3 girls). They have all known each other since they were young and have done many things together. While they have many other friends, this group of seven is a close-knit, inseparable group. They even have a secret base where they meet.
First impression (after 2 episodes):
What a strange first episode. To get a battle between two classes to introduce the characters was pretty impressive. It felt like it could stand on its own as a pretty good ova and not be involved in a series. Combined with some mysterious bystanders who seem to have other plans it gave a taste for more.
The first part of the second episode was less impressive. The hunt for a dog ain't a good follow-up and the characters who were awesome in the first episode felt to be bumbling around. It just felt like watching a poor attempt at being an ecchi series. However the second half improved again with the fight against real opposition. There seems to be a real story in the making.
In all a nice opening to this series. Hopefully they can keep the story going and not do such a weak dog story again.
