Media Player Classic has been acting funny since last night. The video and subtitles appear and are perfectly fine. However, there is NO sound.
I checked my volume control, right-bottom corner of my desktop, it's not muted and when I checked the mixer, the MPC volume is not muted either. I have googled my problem and tried out several solutions put up on sites and I have tried them out such as unchecking MPEG PS/TS/PVA under Source Filters. I've done the "Click View menu>Options>Output>Audio renderer options, and select DirectSound" method and still no sound. I have both CCCP and K-Lite codec packs installed to my laptop and I have always done this for the past 5 years, I've updated my codecs through the times but I have never had problem with it. However, I can watch regularly on Windows Media Player but not on MPC, which I prefer. EDIT #1: I "fixed" it, well not exactly, I think I must have changed the settings or something on MPC v1.5, so videos don't have audio still in this version. I downloaded the new version, MPC v1.6 and made it so that this version is the default to all formats via the options menu. Now all the vids have audio, I'm happy that I can use MPC again, however, all the mini-icons for my vids look really ugly now. It now has icons saying what type of a file it is, I preferred the old styling for the icons, I bet I can change them....I just don't know how. MPC is very sensitive to shortcut keys. You may have just accidentally hit something that caused your audio to be disabled during your last watch. Be it a codec piece or an option, when you reset MPC the changes took affect. Check to make sure none of your "required" audio codec filters are either interfering or disabled.
I'm assuming you tested this with multiple files but did you also try different encodes? I'm not sure how to change the icons or what icons you're referring to since I'm still running mpc 1.5. No need to update CCCP yet as far as I'm concerned. |

I actually had a similar problem a couple months ago. As it turns out, I had installed something that brought Media Player Classic Home Cinema onto my system, which apparently is a newer version but somewhat different than MPC. I went to add/remove programs and found it in there, uninstalled, then installed the very dated original MPC, and it fixed my problem. To this day, I don't know why I get no sound in MPC-HC.
Here's a link to the old MPC, download button at the top of the page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/ ![]() History is always written wrong, and so always needs to be rewritten. -random Keine arrange in sig link, updated 1/14/2012- MAL |
