Synopsis:
The story takes place in Seikyou Private School. A facility that consists of multiple buildings that connect together to accommodate both junior and senior high school students. Sixty years of ongoing renovations and expansions have meant most of the old inner structures have been sealed and abandoned. Classrooms turned into storage rooms, staircases no longer in use, hallways like dark alleys. With the existence of such a maze-like building, it is only natural that rumours of the paranormal would appear.
One day first-year middle school student Teiichi Niiya gets lost in this maze and by chance arrives at an old storage room. This is where he meets Yuuko Kanoe, a mysterious girl with raven black, long silky hair and a tall and slender figure, who introduces herself as the ghost of the old school building. For some unexplainable reason Niiya is the only one able to see this spirit and she herself does not have any recollection of the reasons or time of her death, nor any lingering feelings about life itself. Curious about the circumstances of her death the two create a paranormal investigation club and seek to find out the truth about it and the many other mysteries surrounding the school.

My thoughts:
Another horror series? I look forward to it but all remains to be seen as to whether or not it will abide by that particular genre. While the pv looks promising and the music adds to the overall feel of said story, let's see if it can deliver. wink.gif

This actually a Manga, From what I've seen so far the story is fascinating and the total ambience of the story is nice.

At from what I previewed from the manga the premise seems to be decent. Not to mention the Manga Artist art is nice. There a nice mix of mystery and romance involved. Though the main focus so far is romance. I've not read that many as I only saw this when a friend recommended this to me.

Doesnt sound bad but the horror-genre is the one genre where its the easiest to have a miss than a hit so Im not really hyped about it.

@Aus: Just thought the same as you when I read the Synopsis.

I am certainly going to watch this one smile.gif . After reading Lavenderdays post (thanks smile.gif ) it caught my interest since i like romantic series. In combination with horror and mystery it even got better.

Well I've been reading the manga since about it came round and it was pretty good, especially at the start. Though i wouldn't call it a horror but more like a mystery. If there are a few ghosts it doesn't mean it should be called a horror based on that alone... :/

And the verdict is in... it was goooooood wink.gif Not counting Fate/Zero this was the best premiere episode of the season so far for me. It feels like I can tell already that Yuuko will be one of the best characters of the season. Funny, sexy, pervy, playful, and the list goes on. For her to have that many plus +++ qualities right off the bat bodes well for the potential of this series. Then you have Okonogi who is no slouch either. She played her role as the "exceptionally insightful yet unaware" club member to a tee. The whole set-up to the episode was well done. Being able to see Yuuko the second time around (although she was there all along) added a nice comedic element to the show. The main male lead Niiya played well off of Okonogi and Yuuko. He had one quote that was really clever. Kanoe (the third member of the club) saw Yuuko and Niiya inside the elevator when it came to a stop and makes a derogatory comment when she sees Niiya's hand touching Yuuko's nice & sizable breasts O_O He says something like "It was both Heaven and Hell," referring to the elevator ride. The cleverness of that line totally being lost on Okonogi since she is the only one that can't see Yuuko in the group. So after an excellent start my expectations are now pretty high for Amnesia.

Yeah it completely feels like a mystery anime. The synopsis states that the main purpose is to discover the mystery behind Yuuko's death and the other mysterious happenings surrounding the school. I'm not going to have expectations of a horror anime while watching this one.

Great then....looking forward to watching it as I read some reviews already and yours is an added plus, Ossan. As far as the label "horror" goes, I ain't going to change it since when I first read the synopsis, it was listed as one of the genres...we already know how that term can be interpreted and such so I will leave it be. I had to laugh when some were comparing it with "another" series labeled as horror as well. As if. tongue.gif rolleyes.gif wink.gif
So far so good then...my Spring anime plate will be full but so far my picks are right on. Thanks for the good review to what looks to be another winner, Ossan!

like Ryunosuke and Bluebread say: CUUUURUU! xD this is one of the series that I was looking forward to check this season and the first episode exceeded my initial insight from the PV and the manga, good to see it isn't another pretentious horror show or rather more like a parody so I believe the trainwreck risk will be low this time... the animation quality is great and some aspects like Yuuko being a naughty ghost playing tricks to people who can't see her reminded me to Ano Hana in a more comedic but darker way, just like you I'm expecting this series very highly starting with 9/10 as preliminar biggrin.gif

A pretty fun first episode. To get the scene twice with and without seeing Yuuko was a nice feature. Still i hope to see the history of Yuuko and Niiya meeting for the first time.
The best part for me was for Okonogi as she is completely at a disadvantage compared to the others as she can't follow the conversations.

And one of the best is saved for almost near to last...(I got three more to go before my anime Spring fling is up) wink.gif I loved it! I was wishing for a series like this right smack in the heart of Halloween...if we do not get one come the Fall...I ain't gonna complain since I may very well watch this one then. wink.gif Another keeper to the famed Yaya MAL score card...I am too humble and not pretentious enough to add a score herein...MAL will suffice. tongue.gif

Certainly following this. The first episode was great, even though they did a collage of things a bit further into the manga, and might have spoiled a few things, I'm still happy with the episode. Was well paced and entertaining. 8/10 for now.

I was expecting a grim and creepy first episode... what I got was a gut splitting comedy?! Am I disappointed? Far from it smile.gif

I agree that Yuuko is definitely driving this show, but Okonogi's reactions are priceless! It was a solid introductory episode, but I was left with a few lingering questions that I'm hoping will be answered during the course of the show.

Such as: why was Niiya able to grope her, aren't ghosts usually like a misty vapor that you can't grab a hold of ? She was able to change her bra, or rather put one on that she wasn't wearing before?! Why is it that Niiya and Kanoe can see her and Okonogi can't....? I'm fairly certain my last question will be answered eventually.

I was surprised to find this one enjoyable. The first eps approach was interesting with the split/repeat, and it certainly made it more reasonable to follow the diff convos. I like the characters a lot and it has good potential as a good comedy with some sentimental strings attached. Theres a few directions this can go, and most of those options set it up to be an enjoyable watch.

Yeah, hopefully they keep up the good quality this has both visually and entertainment wise. Considering how awesome the manga is, this has loads of potential to be as awesome, or even more, if they handle it right.

Watched this animu two days ago and the hell is this !!! It's friggen awesome ! A laughed my ass the whole episode xD I understood from the beginning that the president was the ghost and all but the way they "explained" it was funny ^^ First part of the episode with the poor girl believing that poltergeist was fooling her around xD And then the second part with the point of view of the president is just excellent ! She's so so so so so so so funny ! Between, when I saw her, she reminded me a girl of Bakemonogatari.

I don't see where the horror part is but the funny part is present and in a good way !

No swearing, or your mother's going to wash your mouth with soap! tongue.gif But seriously though, no vulgar language on the forums please! -julez

The approach with two different point of views was great. First seeing what only Okonogi saw and then what actually happened. Even though you could pretty much guess what happened seeing how it actually played out it was great.

Yuuko really is a great character (like a lot of females this season as it seems). Instead of depressing around like ghosts normally are she is cheerful, sexy and seems to be happy with her "life".

There is one thing I didnt really get. It was obvious that Kirei could see Yuuko, so why did Yuuko say that Niiya is the only one who can see her?
