Galileo:(2007) Intelligent (but somewhat-socially-awkward) physics professor Yukawa (Fukuyama Masaharu) + rookie detective Utsumi (Shibasaki Kou) = mysteries solved in a most entertaining fashion. This series has really grown on me. I was (relatively) lukewarm to it in the beginning*. I mainly started watching for 2 reasons: A scientist protagonist, and Fukuyama Masaharu (who sings one of my favorite songs, "Niji" from the drama Waterboys, and whom I wanted to see in the flesh). But by the end of the series I was a total fangirl for Yukawa-sensei. I think the labcoat finally got to me! *laughs* (well, I did say in my profile that "science = hot") Anyway, this is going to end up as one of my top 10 dramas. I'm currently re-watching it with a friend (I recommended it to her) and find myself enjoying it even more, even though I've already seen the mysteries solved! I hope they (somehow) make a sequel. (Edit: I've heard they're making a movie/special! *squees very hard & loud*) * My main complaint is that I would have liked the detective to be less gullible about supernatural claims, but I supposed they needed her as a contrast to Yukawa-sensei's super-logical personality. And I came to appreciate sensei's equation-scribbling sequence in each ep, and the "Eureka!" gesture (the classic hand over the face pose) that follows. Yes, it's unlikely and a bit cheesy. And I love it! And-- The 2 main actors perform the catchy, upbeat ending theme! (KOH+ - "KISS Shite") It's so funny to watch them rock out in the PV after seeing them be so serious & earnest in the drama: KOH+ - KISS Shite single & PV & Live performance And here's the OST (the background music), with guitar by Yukawa-sensei himself: Galileo OST Or, Go to d-addicts for torrents: torrents (make sure you grab the SARS-fansubbed ones if you want english) ![]() (...can't decide what's sexier... the labcoat or the classically-professorial button-up shirt & vest... hmmm) |

Well, thats a nice surprise, my best friend is totaly infatuated about this series and has been bugging me to watch it for a while now.
I guess since there is yet another ferverd supporter of the series, I will venture it! Tell you the truth , the reason I was hesitating till now was the fact that it reminds me, kinda of, Trick. And that was a really enjoyable series. Sigh....Anyway I better start making some room on my drive so I can download it. @ poonk I really enjoyed your post. And your links will be very helpfull.

saw the first episode, I'll probably gonna see the rest since it's only 10 episodes
it kinda reminds me of Numb3rs btw, do japanese people are like them ? (meaning the protagonists) cause they're sounding more like anime characters then real people |

Yeah, it is a bit like Trick, except they're explaining the mysteries with science as opposed to "sleight of hand" (as in Trick - which I also really enjoyed - where the heroine was an illusionist and her scientist cohort was the relatively-gullible one). And I'll be the first to admit some of the explanations may be, er, somewhat lacking scientifically-- I mean, I'm not sure people would go to such elaborate lengths to murder people, but then that would make for a pretty dull drama. I consider it artistic license. And sometimes when Yukawa-sensei comes to his conclusions, you think, dude, you really didn't need to write all those equations to figure that out. I mean, from where does he pull the numbers he's using? But anyway, it's like a "quirk" of his that sort of defines his character and links the episodes together. I read (on DramaWiki) that Galileo swept the Drama Academy Awards for 2007: 55th Television Drama Academy Awards: Best Drama Best Actor - Fukuyama Masaharu Best Supporting Actress - Shibasaki Kou Best Script - Fukuda Yasushi Best Director Best Theme Song That's like... everything! So, either it really is as good as I think, or the competition sucked (hmmm...)
Y'know, I've heard that too (although I've never seen Numb3rs-- I stopped watching American TV years ago).
I'm pretty sure that dramas are not an accurate way to learn about the intricacies of any country's culture. They might be somewhat more reliable than anime (depends on the drama/anime, of course)... but some dramas are pretty over-the-top (see: Hana-Kimi). That's why we watch them!
Anyway, I'm currently working on upping ep10 at the moment... And will come back tomorrow and make links into hyperlinks so that first post ain't so dang HUGE! |

thought so XD
after seeing episode 2, I'm thinking about seeing this one through and it reminds me of Spiral a bit too |

You can download this dorama from this site, http://www.lolipower.org/ in the "o" section of "pedos". Also, you need FireFox for this site to full function.
I just watched episode 01 and damn was it good....I'm gonna finish this off sometime this week....off to watch episode 02. Hehehehe.....last time I did Physics was an awful long time ago....I never knew it would be this interesting. I think there's a movie adaption of Galileo called "Devotion of Suspect X", which they say at the very end of episode 02, that the movie adaption is in progress. Yipee....I just finished off this series and I must say that I learnt a lot from it, particularly in the 2nd half of the series. At first, it was just good but it began to evolve into "great", especially the last case, which was the last 2 episodes and it would have been better to .....I think an epilogue would have been better but I guess they made us "assume" (as usual) what happens to the criminal. Overall, this series was good and cheesey. However, how the cases are solved by Galileo are a bit "too quick" and spontaneous and I believe the series could have been excuted better. It reminded me of Ghost Hunt (anime) but when putting those two against each other......Ghost Hunt hunts down and shoots Galileo square in the head. Anyways as a dorama, this is great fun and I strongly recommend it. |

This series was interesting, but I have to admit that I skipped a couple of episodes in between. The plot just became a bit too formulatic with there being a mystery, Utsumi fumbling around, and Yukawa suddenly figuring it out. It had a good start and end though.

episode 5 part 4 can't be downloaded...
somebody please help me... |

As I don't have the files with me at the moment, the fastest solution would be to hop on over to Silent Regrets' Galileo page, where they have MU and SS links (although unfortunately you'll have to start over downloading their split parts, as I'm sure they're split differently than mine-- sorry!). And for anyone else who still cares: The raws for the special (Galileo Zero) are out-- but there's no Utsumi (Shibasaki Kou), as this story takes place before they met (hence the "Zero") and it instead focuses on Yukawa and Kusanagi (Kitamura Kazuki), the male cop who introduced him to Utsumi in episode 1 (actually, it's my understanding that the 2 men are the focus of the actual manga, while the female cop was a character who was created for the drama). Anyway, I'm very excited about this and anxiously awaiting subs. |

Thats some really good news you got there, Poonk, I too now will be anxiously waiting to see more of Galileo's brillant mind in work. |

holy shit!!! i was watching right now some korean movie entertainment show w/c i dont understand at all and one of the previews is the galileo movie!!! is this the one you guys are talking about?! cause i see the guy here and the lady cop and it looks like they are against a mathematician genius. omg i am really excited about this!!! this looks more like a sequel since the lady cop is consulting with the teacher guy here again!!!
it looks really good. plus i get to see the lady chick again!!! this is the one http://www.yougisha-x.com/. its different from the special zero episode. cool!!!!!!!!!! anybody seen the movie yet??? can anybody help me find it. hehehehe. i only see the zero episode but not the film. omg im dying to watch this. the last episode left me wanting for more~ the movie title is called Yogisha X no Kenshin (suspect x) This post has been edited by anbu-black-ops on Apr 08 2009, 02:21 AM |

I haven't seen the movie (yet) but it's on my to-watch list. I've heard it's much more serious than the drama. And yeah, Shibasaki Kou is back for the film. I honestly didn't think her absence would bother me for the special ("episode 0"), and yet I found it lacking the charm of the original drama (well, maybe it was the less-than-inspiring "flashback" plot of the special too).
Honestly? I just kinda wish they'd make a second season. |

im watching it right now. so far im on the first half and the theme is really dark. your right, very serious. i like it. its more of a thriller sort of.
they also incorporated yukawa's taste/interest in hot girls/women from the zero episode (bikini and in the movie ill let you find out what it is lol)which is kinda weird since i dont find his character interested in the opposite sex that much like in the series. so far i am liking it. i might finish watching it alittle later. its more serious and much better than the last episode where he was facing off with his professor. i wish they make a second season also. its such a shame. i like their chemistry. and also i didnt like the zero episode that much since i didnt see the lady cop. im just glad that there's a movie. imagine how happy i am~ it must be fate that i saw that korean show showing a preview of this movie. lol. edit: just finished the movie and it was good. it was emotional sort of at the end of the movie when everything was revealed. the motive of the killer and all. the story is pretty solid. this is not your typical galileo case. no physics tricks involve in the case which is weird but at the same time nice. its more like a csi tv episode. i think this was the weak and the strong point of the movie. you will understand what i mean when you watch it. worth watching... pretty good story with a nice plot twist. i warn you, the ending is kinda sad and depressing... will be waiting for season 2. keeping my fingers cross. lol... you never know... and they need to do something about the 2 main characters relationship... it needs alittle romance. lol.
