I have a hard time seeing this series as turning generic. Yes the concepts are well used but it's all in the delivery which makes it in my opinion refreshing and very enjoyable.

Take the pool episode. Very very typical but, this one actually was not a filler and showed depth and progress. You can't say that about most swimsuit episodes.

I agree Taiga has been a bit mellow this episode but, I feel it is to show that she was really worried and I think depressed (Might be over Ryuji and Ami's closeness) added to her having to face her rival Ami at the pool.

Also I think it's going to get complicated you have now 5 characters that have feelings for each other in some sort of way. That aspect and how they convey it will really in my opinion make or break it.

Not only that, but to add the fact that Taiga is self concious while wearing a baithing suit. Never the less how Minori picked up on it the second she saw Taiga is beyond me. Also, it seems that with te best of intetions Ryuuji did something he shouldn't of, but then again this is Taiga we're talking here so it's probablly embarasing that your best freidn had to cop a feel just to hav eher save face it seems.

As for Ami she really wants to see if Taiga will go off the deep end against her. Although I see it possib;e to happen though. Although I wonder how long that blackmail that she has of her will work.

I've been thinking about it for a while, and I think that the one Kitamura likes now is the President. She's mean in a bossy kind of way, and Taiga's mean streak was one of the things that attracted him to her in the first place. (though he called it being honest) He also wants Ami to be openly mean and demanding. Ryuugi puts up with being yelled at and ordered about, but I think Kitamura enjoys it.

I think Kitamura is gay....... he has all these girls around him but he doesn't seem at all interested, except kind of peripherally in the more butch and aggressive ones...... his character is too little developed though, people talk about him but he's basically not there most of the time, I wonder if his middle name is McGuffin?

lol hes interested in the student council pres, you know that loud girl taiga found annoying sorry for the one/two liner but just want people to know, the anime seems to have skipped mentioning it

Jeez, am I the only guy who wants to see them get what they want? Taiga with Kitamura and Ryuji with Minori (the best character in the show, BTW). I think Taiga and Ryuji are better as platonic best-buds helping each other and watching each others back. Though at this point Taiga isn't really holding up her end. I mean, he made boobs for her and what has she done?

episode 08. hmmm. wow? maybe...i dont know...did Tiaga confess? it looked like it, but she did a nice job sidestepping it at the end. Id also like to think Ami is serious about Ryūji, tho I know its not gunna happen. Also, i thot Tiaga was still gah-gah crazy love for Kitamura, and i would like to see that relationship work out .oh well. great episode anyway.

I just saw episode 08....and damn was it good and no Uz3r013, Taiga didn't confess....all she did was "don't touch my dog" but in eyes of others it was a confession........Ryuuji is too slow to pick up things and Taiga is too scared or in general has not really come to terms with her "new" feelings.....hence, she feels insecure and generally unsure of what to do....so she hides it but gives off hints at times.......unfortunately, Ryuuji just doesn't pick them up. Ami is just too cute.....I really think she has fallen for Ryuuji but Ryuuji won't accept her because he will think that she's just playing with him.........this will undoubtedly lead to Ami being heart broken because she wasn't understood and I really wanna see this happen........and hopefully, it will happen very soon, in the next few episodes.

Also, episode 08 just felt too short.

well, Ryuuji doesn't break any hearts unless the anime changes that; the story focuses more on the three girls trying to figure out why they act the way they do around him (they like him duh, we know that but they don't)... i wouldn't think that Ami is so weak as to cry if he misunderstands her, she is VERY persistent and to be honest she'd probably keep trying nonestop; we're only at the start of the 4th novel, and her feelings don't really surface until around volume 7... not to mention there are plenty of events before they even start to really focus on relationships so i don't expect any drama with *her* (specifically) anytime soon

as far as novels go, Ryuuji feels around the same for all three girls at the moment; reason i state that is because of comments like "omg, ryuuji loves her! <3 <3"; its not so bad on this site/forum though, so... yeah; we're gonna get an original ending, but i hope they stick with the dog/master relationship, more fun that way

I agree with everyone episode 8 was great (as well as short)

I love in the classroom when everyone was going against Taiga, Ryuuji dropped 3000 on the palmtop tiger to win   

This series is very entertaining its in my top 3 this season

Well after seeing episode 8 it seems that this episode showed that Taiga would do pretty much anything to keep Ryuuji by her side no matter what now. Although it was kind of a given she's back into saying she did it because she was her dog though. I mean she does like him, but I think she would rather deny it in front of anyone though.

It was funny watching them passing notes and talked about Taiga. I laughed so hard when I saw this  .  Classic!

I do agree. Taiga really doesn't like it anymore when anyone else get Ryuuji. She sure was mad when she said that no-one helped Ryuuji. Maybe she still isn't honest about how she feels about Ryuuji but she sure knows that she wants him around. I get the feeling that Kitamura tries all kinds of tricks to get Ryuuji and Taiga to understand how they feel about each other. Ami does seem serious about Ryuuji but the conversation she and Ryuuji at the vending machines felt a bit off....it somehow felt more like she does notice what is happening between Ryuuji and Taiga and is giving it a little push to get it to work (or am i just imagining things?).
In all still one of my favorite series of this fall.

nope, your right on the mark; thats exactly what Ami is trying to do, as well as everyone else around them... but that wont last very long hanging around a person of the opposite sex too long causes... certain feelings to form

What excellent building in this ep. Taiga in my opinon is very confused about herself. You can see this at the Public pool scene when she get all pissed and says no one understands her, and she can't even understand herself. I feel that's all about her feelings getting much stronger towards Ryuuji.

I was right in the fact that the Ryuuji and Ami moment from ep 6 would be brought up again!!

Also when Taiga was on Ryuuji saying he's mine. I take it as "in the moment." She was real concerned about him, be it love? I don't think just yet. All these wacky strange feelings are starting to form and congeal in Taiga now, I think due to a catalyst effect being Ami, and the concern for Ryuuji's health in the pool.

I did see a new depth and atmosphere to Taiga this episode which I really like. She added a new level of complexity to the equation. I feel we now have a Taiga who deep inside wants the attention from Ryuuji, and will feel hurt with any advances from Ami, or if Ryuuji ignores her.

Cant wait for next week!!

When Ryuji was hurt, her switch flipped and went into hyper dere dere mode, but after she cooled down, she returned to her usual tsun tsun mode

As for people that can't stand Taiga keep inu (dog) this, inu (dog) that, you are still 'too green' an otaku to gasp the charm behind it. Abusive/bad tongued girls (character) are actually quite popular amongst a specific group of otaku. It is one type of attribute, just like big sister type, little sister type, tsundere type, megane type (glasses), yojou (loli) type etc. But like Konata said in Lucky Star, while it is 'moe' in fictional stories/2-dimension world like anime, games and novels...if such person (i.e. tsundere, doujiko) exist in real life, it would only cause trouble and dislike in reality.
