Great episode there. I had no idea that Minori and Kitamura were behind it. I expected it to have been Ami.

I'm also starting to like all three females more and more, all three are being developed nicely, especially Ami. Next up is the school festival, a three episode arc. Then hopefully a second season.

Responding never gets any easier. V_V; ... but I will give it a good try and see where it gets me.

So we are looking at just how far these friendships can stretch... and at this moment, they are looking pretty brittle. o_o;

Now for some spoilers!

Minori... A Lot Smarter Than I Gave Her?!

There was something magical about how she played the two. I mentioned it before that I felt that and I'm glad that it wasn't totally unfounded. Trappers trapping trappers... It was genius to that extent. I must admit that I didn't see it being that tacky on Kitamura's end, but that was to cover for a greater ploy! There's something cunning about her... and that just got her some serious brownie points in my book!

Ami... The Many Facets Of An Idol

Ami's intentions aren't always clear... and had Kitamura not shown Ryuuji this particular side, then there would not have been much of a fight from him in Ami's advances. We are starting to see this concept of the "extra wheel" playing a heavy role on Ami. She seems to have a good grasp on the situation between the 4... and knows where she sits within all of the talks... the problem here is that there's this notion that Ami is still on the outside looking in. Nothing showcased that better than right at the end as she's standing on the veranda by herself. Man, there are never enough Golden Tickets to go around, eh?

Ryuuji... A Heart Three Times The Normal Size

Ryuuji is currently in a bad situation despite the progress that he's made towards his ideal choice. Minori is starting to honor his feelings... and despite shunning the obvious attempts by Ami, he's still giving her an ear to vent into. Taiga is in it the worst with him right now because at this juncture, she probably feels threatened in the notion of not getting to be around him as much. They both went into it with goals in mind and yet, she feels a twinge of jealousy when it appears that one of the two are close to obtaining said objective. At the end of the episode, there's something really decisive in the way that everyone was reacting and camera shots. Ryuuji wants to make everyone happy... but when one tries to make it that far, it ususally ends up in more people being hurt. Can one person really make everyone happy?! Personal experience says no!

Taiga... A Changing Of The Guard?

Taiga is working hard to try to get acknowledged by Kitamura. What I don't like is that she is clinging to Ryuuji in order to make sure that he doesn't get to his goal before she does. That's selfish on her behalf. On the flipside, it might just be her insecurity at work. At this point, I don't know what to make of her mindset besides the fact that she's falling into a reality where Kitamura will never like her and either Ami or Minori will take Ryuuji away from her... leaving her in Ami's current spot... on the outside looking in. Will she take that lying down... heck no!

Kitamura... Defender or Attacker?

Kitamura is in the best spot right now. The way that he brashly acts around the girls suggests that either 1) he's not interested in any of them at this point, or 2) he's trying to show more of himself to the girls in an attempt to get a good friendship with them only. There's a third answer of him just being clueless and more of a follower... but I wouldn't buy that answer. He's not making any ploys at the girls so one would have to wonder if there's something there at all between him and Taiga. Growing up together usually hinders or fuels a relationship so Ami (if she cared enough) and Taiga are in a bad spot already. Some would say that it's for the better but I'm not sold on that yet with him.

Man, I wrote a lot... but anywho... that's where I'm sitting on this manner. Good episode, and there was a lot of great moments. This is the kind of episode that you'll want to rewatch in order to get the humor in one sitting and then the drama in the other. happy.gif ;

Ok after seeing episode 10 I have to say it seems like things turned out pretty well here. I wasn't really expecting something like that to happen but none the less it was a good episode. Although it seems that AMi is trying her best at making Ryuuji forget about Minori and go wih her instead. In any case it seems Taiga was trying to stick up for Kitamura with the cheezy traps he had.

In the end it seems Taiga still wants to hang around Ryuuji due to convience though if you ask me.

Well, after seeing ep. 10, I'm now almost sure the anime will be only 13 eps. They seem to have started to wrap the story up... I also felt that the ep was a bit rushed, so it seems like they are really trying to cram a lot of stuff in.

Actually they may be endign it as a season though, but there is definetlly going to be more then just 13 episodes I assure you of that. Heck a few of the members posting in this thread say it's going to be at least a 24-26 episode series.

In any case it seems like they did want to wrap it up so they could go back to the not so normal school days they have been having, or something around that order.

do you mean what volume(manga) the anime ends on?

This episode was pretty good. good twist. but i still liked episode 9 more.

I still think this season is going to end with 13 episodes, but since the official japanese website has a 2nd OP and ED cd being released in january, that most likely means, there is gunna be a second season(another 13 episodes).

hmmm... im still hoping for the 25 episodes after this one actually; since they decided to take the big step and begin on the heavy stuff... Taiga seems to be realizing that she doesn't like Minori and Ryuuji that close together; and lets not forget that Ami is being drawn in by his caring nature, if there would have been no interruptions by the other girls i think we would have seen an indirect confession or two during this episode (even though we did have one in the end) except Ryuuji is a bit slow to catch on

Notes: Ryuuji is a player and doesn't even know it laugh.gif and i'm still 100% rooting for Ami, she would indeed be the best match for him, then Taiga, lastly Minori... maybe i'll get lucky and this series pulls a Ichigo 100%

@midjetman: the manga isn't even as far as the anime i believe, but the novel that this follows will porbably come to an end soon... i'd say Toradora will end with 11 or 12 novels

This episode left me feeling a heavy atmosphere. Which is excellent!!!! The series has now turned much more serious which is fresh after 9 lovable wacky episodes.

I really don't like Minori. Just as Ami said Minori is not suited for Ryuji, and her analogy of the sun is exact. She is way to happy and energetic.

Ami I like, she seems down to earth and reasonable in her true self form. I hope that Ami does try to push Minori away from Ryuji.

Taiga I adore. Like I seriously adore her. She to me is a realist and shows all her emotion naturally. Ryuji really needs to end up with her or I am going to be really depressed and consider this series a giant train wreck and letdown.

Oh Also I have just started to read the Novel which is awesome!!! I'm just on the second novel but feel a lot deeper insight. To get Ryuji's inner voice really adds and clears up a lot.

I was surprised by this episode. The foreshadowing left over from 9 made me think something scary was going to happen. Maybe it's because we were prepared for it. Nice romance development at the very end. I agree that Minori isn't the right choice for him, he is very caring and nice and he admires the carefree attitude but he'll never have that. I like Minori as a character though, she is very good at foreseeing things. C'mon, Taiga realize you can't even talk to Kitamura and go out with Ryugi. I think every guy has a bit of Ryuji somewhere in him. laugh.gif

Given the advertisement for OP/ED2, it's not impossible that they make another season, but I feel it could be overstretched and unnecessary (like Minami Ke - okawari). All things need to end.

Part of the situation with minami-ke is, if I recall correctly, that the second season was done by a different studio, with slightly different animation and character design. Also, toradora has a stronger overarching plot than the slice-of-life minami-ke. Yeah, toradora will need to end eventually, but 13 episodes is a little short, in my opinion, especially with the abundance of material from the novels.

After watching episode 10 I have to say kudos to the progression of this story. First, unlike a lot of ppl here I would not write off Minori and Ryuji's progressing relationship. Before this previous episode I didn't see that connection that made me believe Minori could possibly have feelings for Ryuji. Probably because they never really spent any one-on-one time together. All that changed this eppy and you could tell that Minori is gradually becoming more interested in him. He seems to sincerely like that "spirited frenzy" of hers lmao. Plus I think there is something deeper about Minori that she is hiding behind that spirited frenzy and Ryuji seems capable of eventually pulling that out of her.

Now Ami X Ryuji is also very interesting. Because Ami is the type that you are uncertain if she is just toying w/emotions. I think at first that may have been the case to get under Taiga's skin. Now she is interested because she can be her so called "true self" around him unlike most guys who she still uses the facade around. The more Ami X Ryuji the better her playful side brings out many amusing moments between the two and her body is like WOAH did ya see the swimsuit ph34r.gif haha good stuff.

Then you have the Taiga X Ryuji angle which is all kinds of complicated. It's like being attracted to your best friend but your not really for sure if it's because you spend soooo much time together or do you really like that person. I can actually see Taiga becoming interested in Ryuji -- she's already got the possessive gf act down lmao. But I'm not convinced Ryuji has those types of feelings for her as of yet. Though who knows they could start to develop and become more apparent down the road.

I'm gonna go against the popular pick and say that a Ryuji X Minori pairing is gonna happen eventually. Hopefully the anime does continue on past 13 episodes and they can progress the characters properly and don't rush anything because they're doing an excellent job right now. Ever since Ami joined the cast this show's anime stock has skyrocketed!

Interesting episode. Was thinking there really was a curse in the cave, but the outcome of it was surprising too.

I don't know if anyone else payed it much attention, but in the preview, Taiga looks REALLY pissed at something. Wonder what?

Who knows maybe the fact ryuji getting close to taiga friend or ami and she getting very jealous of the fact that she not getting anywhere it Kitamura. Maybe is that she in fact having feeling for ryuji but treating him like a dog.

Well, the main reason as I recall was that the first season used most of the original manga's content. Now, I don't know how long the Toradora original content is, but I think it would be better to end up short and good rather than overstretched like, say, Shakugan no Shana was.

Right now there are 9 or 10 novels out, and the anime is currently in the 4th novel, so I think there's enough material to make 25 episodes.
