chances of another season are actually very low... the only reason the storyline is even this good is because it follows the novels down to the point

anyway i finally caught up after a short 5 episode marathon, and i gotta say this turned out to be quite the amazing series... rare for me to say that on drama/romance types because i really hate them (i'm looking at you clannad) but this one has really caught my eye

the confession was killer, not to mention the reactions to it (including my own)... oh and that was the most epic catfight i've ever seen in my entire life

Ugh... the last thing Toradora needs is a second season. What is it with this seemingly universally held opinion that longer is better? We're only 2/3 through the season, and now that they have that giant Kitamura roadblock out of the way, it's fairly certain that we'll see some Ryuuji/Taiga development. To draw it out for more than another 8 episodes would seem a bit silly...

I mean 8 episodes is a fairly lengthy amount of time and if all the directors did was make Ryuuji and Taiga go around in circles for 8 episodes, I'm pretty sure people would get pretty angry. It's more than enough time for significant development and the only way the directors could really allow for Toradora to go onto a second season would be to do pretty much nothing

well there is also a misunderstanding on where the whole Ryuuji/Taiga relationship stands... people need to realize that they are NOT like that; this story thus far (novels included now) is more about their friendship and obstacles they face during their last 2 years of highschool, and the time spent together... expecting an RyuujixTaiga ending is pointless; same goes for the other two... talk about who ends up with whom makes just about as much sense as "there will probably be a second season"

now if we get the "anime original ending" which i doubt... highly, highly doubt; we may get some sort of pairing, but to be honest i think it'll stay true to the novels and give an ending everyone is somewhat pleased with

thinking about what you said Kajin, you may be right. In any cads e what I'm hoping for now is definitely some more character developement with either Minorin or Ryuuji, they seem to stuck as almost side characters at the moment. Ryuuji has spent so much time backing up taiga and kitimura he doesn't seem to do much else and minorin seems to have very little to do in my opinion.
I'd like to see more of Ami too, I'm sure there's room for more development with her too.
To be honest the main reason I'd like their to be a 2nd season of Toradora is that I always feel sorta sad when a show I liked comes to an end.

From the way things will go Ryuuji may either end up with Ami in the end since she says they are very compatable, or by a stroke of luck he could be with Minori since she's somewhat aware of his feelings for her now.

As for Taiga she might get lucky and finally get Kitamura all to herself, but then again she may probablly still cling to Ryuuji in the end of it all though.

Kid Wolf makes a valid point. I still say its up for grabs, relationship wise. But that is not the reason for this post. I went to the Coal Guys website and noticed an announcement that said Toradora had been dropped as of that moment. It was dated Jan. 22 the same day they released the subbed ep. 16. It had been crossed out. They then explained it was a joke by one of their team members. It no doubt was the cause of some swearing, elevated blood pressure, and gnashing of teeth before it was crossed out. Thank God no member of the FTV team would pull such a prank. Coal Guys must have gotten a lot of negative feedback, because they said they had no idea so many people would be so upset.lol.I was hoping it would be done this morning like last week. No such luck, and no mention of ep. 17 on the CG website.
i guess it'll be ready when it's ready. I'll be keeping an eye on the dl figures when it comes out because after the outrageous ep 16 I think more people than ever are watching. Uh oh, since there are new OP/ED songs, if the subbers decide to translate them it'll take longer.

if school rumble can go on for as long as it did, i see no reason for toradora to not continue past the first season, they are kinda similar, if you look at it.
and if there is no type of pairing then that leaves the series open for a sequel,

and if this anime can create a reaction with non japanese, like it has, then i can see it happening, but if they dont, well it just means that if the ending was good, and left me wanting more, than it did it's job, because i would rather have a good ending and wanting more, than just glad its finally over, because it dragged on and on, (NARUTO)

OPPS i might upset some people

Although I have only seen up to episode 13 ish (slow subs....) and have no idea what's currently going on (to be honest I do have some idea having watched raws lately) it's difficult to say whether there will be a second season or not. It's too early to tell.

The anime shifted away from the novels long ago, back in episode 3 if I remember correctly. It does make some occasional back and forth switching between novel and anime original arcs. They may make a second season, but I'm going to have to say that it's too hard to say until at least hitting episode 20 or 21. It's not like To Aru Majutsu no Index where it's almost guaranteed we'll be getting one. Although there is much left from the novels to animate, the fact that they were off track since the beginning raises doubts.

difference is school rumble had manga material to work with, toradora does not; its running out of material fast and to be honest doing a season 2 without some type of outline will just be a disaster, the story is only this good because the novel is this good

as for Kit's comment, this didn't shift off course from the novels all the events thus far were in the novels (important ones that is); although they did skip some things...the only anime original moments were some truly small insignificant scenes to make the episode go the 20+ minutes... but for the main plot its been right on point

The incompletely translated novels can be found on the Baka Tsuki website. Translators are still at work on them. Elsewhere on the net some untranslated doujinshi hentai manga are becoming available--phew.

Seems like they've figured out the niche role for Kugimiya (see Shakugan no Shana and Zero no Tsukaima).

Hey Kazin, no one said longer is always better, but if the story keeps has fresh as the first season then longer is definitly better.

Mind you i get what you mean, longer is some times worse since it welcomes fillers and bad script writting... but if that doesnt happens, YAY! xD

aaargh what's happening? Tiaga is being way too cheerful and even being nice.
Blimey things are getting complicated now with another girl liking Kitamura and Minorin being confused about her feelings for Ryuuji.
I absolutely loved the dream though, trust Cola Guys to give their own interpretation to it lmao and the scene where Inko rebels was fabulous
It's weord the new Toradora is good but I miss the old Toradora

Episode 17, is a little awkward makes me think now there wont be a Taiga Ending now.

It was a little to obvious and much to early to show hints that Ryuuji will like Taiga.

If it was in the late 20's I can understand, the fact this occurred so soon makes me think he will end up with someone else now.

But aye seems we got some Minorin development going on in the meantime.

i perfer the old opening, but now the character development is in high speed, now that ryuuji has questioned himself about liking taiga, but everybody thinks that he didn't know about her liking kitamura,

i would like to see the next episode go like this, i want ryuuji to skip the party and find minori, and try to talk to her,  kitamura being nice to taiga, but he only looks at her as a friend, i think they are leaning towards kitamura knowing that taiga and ryuuji really like each other but are too wrapped up in their dream worlds to snap into reality, and ami ... you know i still do not know her motives yet, but we will see, i think a happy non violent taiga is even more scary than a mean one,

and best scene in the whole episode was with iko chan, come on that is the first time he acted like he understod what was going on, and even responded to ryujji, and the look in his eyes when he saw the cook book, priceless,

this train wreck is on the fast track, and i'm starting to see the impact zone

Ok I managed to see episode 17 now and I can say this. A happy Taiga is a non-violent Taiga. It seems that most people want to see Kitimura and Taiga pairing while others in the school want to see a Ryuuji and Taiga paring.

It seems from what I can guess form what Ami said to Minori in last week's episode still kind of left her in a total funk if you will. Although it seem the girl that was with Ryuuji wants to support him to be with Taiga though, and feels for him in that sort of way.

So this episode was kind of the monkey wrench for a smoothed out ending. Although I wouldn't declare a trainwereck as of yet since it seems to be running fairly well as of late. Besides they did skip the two weeks Taiga was suspended and kind of went over what happened while she was gone so I don't think the pace seems rushed as of yet.

As for the OP and ED I can say both are pretty good, but I prefered the old ED since that song was very catchy though.

My favourite scene in the whole episode was hands down the Inko-chan part! I was laughing so hard when Ryuuji and his mother are bowing down infront of the cage, and Taiga walks in like, "   what are you guys doing?" 

Like it's already mentioned here, Ryuuji was bothered by Taiga liking Kitamura for some reason, actually even he didn't know what was going on... it seems now like there is a possibility for Ryuuji to like Taiga in the end. I'm not too happy with that though, I'd prefer an open ending or for him to still like Minorin. It just seems too sudden to me.. but that's just my opinion.

I hope Minorin cheers up in the next episode, I definitely missed her normal shiny self.

Like Kid-Wolf, I also prefer the old ED, it was really catchy... oh well, the new one isn't too bad

Ya... second OP/ED aren't pulling me in... >.<; ... Okay for the ears but not exactly my taste in song styles. It's like... if they decided to go and throw this one out and go back, I'm sure that I wouldn't have lost this one. >.>;

Moving onwards, it seems like everyone's pushing the leads into a situation now that they may not be able to get out of. o_o;

And where in the heck did this "new love interest" come from?! You don't think... that this was one of those... "I feel sorry for you after what you went through and now I want to make you happy" kinda spots, right?!

Either way... Ryuuji's situation is becoming more and more prevalent... Such is the way that things should be, right? You're talking about the lead male character's feelings being put on display after he's been riding the rail for the whole series so far.

Onto speculations!

Maybe, Kitamura's pushing for a "couples" dance at Christmas because the girl that they brought along has already made her play after him and he willingly accepted. Yet... if this was the case, then the friends wouldn't be pushing Taiga his way... Something's amiss.

Ami's making her ploy back into the spotlight with her moves to sway Ryuuji's trust and cooperation her way.

In a way, I think that Ryuuji's just becoming like around where Kitamura was! Follow me on this for a second... He's talking less... and his relationships with Taiga, Minorin, and Ami are becoming strained... almost like how Kitamura was at the start of this series.

Ah... my newest best phrase was uttered at the tail end of this ep. Will be adding that to the addy later... xD! That one got me good...

Good episode. And i have to admit, that was the first time i enjoyed watching that bakabird. that fanservice dream, was real nice too

but wtf is up with the OP/ED changing at episode 17? The only time that happens is with long running animes...u think toradora will be more than 25 episodes? OP/ED changes usually only occur when seasons change or in the middle of an anime. And i know once in awhile we get an oddball episode number, so maybe toradora is going to be 32 episodes long?
