Magic of course.  After creating Genji with Ronove's help and creating Shannon, he created Kanon who was the only one to be created without flaws although his heart was weaker than the one Shannon had obtained.

pretty much watched up to the latest umineko, and havent watched any of the higurashi)nor played the game T_T), i kinda got lost when everything that happened on the 1st 5 epi, then ep 6 came out everything was pretty much resetin every way, from the 1st 6 people that died and so on. kinda came on late cuz just marathoned everything about yesterday night. can someone shed any light on this for me . well i tried thinking of it as beatrice pretty much made a new scenario for battler to make a bettter view at it, rather than used the scenario on ep 1-5. (not sure if what i just thought up was write though )

Well technically if you're seen Higurashi, then you'll understand the powers of the "Almighty Rest Button" that is used with this series. As you stated Beatrice is trying to make Battler admit that there are such things as witches and magic. Although you could say that Batter and Beatrice from the first world (story arc) are moving to another reality so he can prove that a normal human can pull off the murders that she has been doing so far.

The up side is Batter is given a chance to explain the situation, but Beatrice decided to add the one thing that gives her a slight edge. With her speaking the truth she can try and catch Battler off guard and force him to admit defeat. Although the truth can be a double edged sword if she isn't too careful.

I loved Higurashi, Higurashi Kai, and Higurashi Rei.

This show makes me go WTF. I don't think it's on the same level as higurashi.

As of episode 8, Umineko must have DVD subs. With the censorship they had here I can only see more coming in the near future.

ehm, about the censorship..... what is so interesting about guts coming out and candy stuck in them? Is that a must-see?

So, having not played teh games I can't really say much. But I do have a question... why wasn't Battler completely freaking out when he saw the Gigalomaniacs-esque energy swords used by Kanon and the random goat dudes? Cause like, I'd be like, what the hell if I saw that.

yes In all seriousness though, I just don't like stuff censored in things I watch. It gives me the feeling of sloppy work or animation, when it really is to protect younger viewers from gory depictions.

Battler is stubborn like no other. I haven't played the game either, but I here that he doesn't like to ever admit that he's wrong similar to how Beatrice tries to do the same in episode 8 by imposing restrictions and special conditions for the game. Oh...for those who don't know, at C76 they released a PV for the new Umineko game (supposedly the beginning of all the answer arcs) as well as the last "question" arc I guess. Surprisingly, the last question arc is titled "The End of the Golden Witch." I'm curious as to whether or not they will reach this last question arc before this run through is over since I doubt they will animate the question and answer arcs all together in one go. It'll most likely be split like Higurashi.

So Kit are you saing that we're to expect to see an Umineko no Naku Koro ni Kai season in the not to distant future?

We even in the manga Battler mentioned something abotu this Occult stuff is nothing more then something along the line of people dressing up like Goat Men or something around that order.

I'm still waiting for Battler's little sister to make an appearance, but it looks like she may come in the 3rd story arc then along with the other witches that want to play in this twisted game between Beatrice and Battler.

yes. Given that the four main parts of the first game have been fully released, that is what this season will probably cover. Second season will cover the next set of arcs released for the game Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru. However, since 07th Expansion releases their game in separate arcs, we won't be seeing season 2 at least for another couple years probably. I just hope Studio DEEN here doesn't close off the gap for the continuation and I don't see a reason to do so, especially since Higurashi did so well.

Well from the way things will go I'm sure he'll let them know when to pick up for the answer arcs for this.

Besides I don't think Studio DEEN has ever tried and deviated from a storyline to the point of were it doesn't show some kind of relation to the original story though.

I'm pretty sure they have....*cough*07-ghost, Groove Adventure Rave, Rurouni Kenshin, Star Ocean EX, Touka Gettan, Vampire Knight (they couldn't help this one though)*cough*

You know the most dumbest thing came to mind that they would do an actual Higurashi - Umineko crossover just for a gag. Heck I even see a 4-koma involving Battler, K-1, and Satoshi dealling with the baseball bat.

frankly, I am totally confused. I havent read the novels or played the game, so I have no idea whats going on.
First thing I dont understand is this: There is no lose scenario. If beatrice wins, everbody gets resurrected and they will go to this golden land (whatever that is, but doesnt sound that bad).
If Battler & co. win, they get to keep the gold and interest.... I am not sure if the dead get resureccted too.

second: quite obviously the witches exist. Otherweise they wouldnt be there. So.... how could Battler possibly prove they dont exist?

It's a drama cd but its still a crossover. I also recall seeing another crossover on 7th expansion's site but I can't seem to find it now.

The lose scenario also includes Beatrice not opening the golden land though Eva won in the third game, her alter-ego was a witch so the golden land still opened.

Second, there is no actual proof that witches exist. Goats? Men in costumes. Light swords? Special technology developed with Kinzo's money. Battler even describes the destroyed stomachs with candy in them as the work of a small bomb. Any excuse can be used if you are clever (insane?) enough to think of it. The best theory and Battler's salvation is Scrodinger's cat box. (google that one)

Knowing that, it could of been the infamous Tsukihime-Higurashi crossover due to Curry-sensei/sempai. Besides oddly enough that corssover is somewhat feasable if you ask me.

Oh so the Scrodinger's Cat theory comes back after the 4th episode of the Higurashi Rei OVA. Besides that makes it where if he knows that theory then he has a chance of just trying to wear down Beatrice.

1) The lose scenario = bad ending, meaning everyone dies and no on reaches the golden land except Beatrice I believe, which was the whole point of the epitaph. If they can't solve the riddle within 10 twilights, then the game is over for Ushiromiya family.

2) from our perspective based on what we've seen they do, but Battler is more stubborn than a bull. Also, the point is not really to prove that witches don't exist, but rather magic as discussed in the argument of episode 8 between Beatrice and Battler. So it would seem there is some plot hole, but Battler's main objective is to prove that magic doesn't exist. No one yet knows how he's going to do it since not even the game has gone that far. All we can do at this point is wait and see how he will disprove both the existence of magic, and in turn witches. From what I've heard, Bernkanstel is suppose to aid Battler and co at some point by giving them clues as to how to overcome the trials set up by Beatrice as well as solve the riddle, which in turn Battler will use to his advantage to deny Beatrice's powers

Well I managed to watch episode 9. It seems Battler walked right into Beatrice's trap, by failing to explain the closed door arguement with Beatrice. Although he did manage to clear up Kannon's name though, but at the cost of explaining how the door was locked without the other servants being involved. Also, it seems there is a subtle hint about the sheep & wolf puzzle that can explain what is going on here.

Wow, I think that scene with Kannon's hand becoming a sword was pretty ridiculous.
