Staff Director: Hiroshi Nishikiori Original Creator: Kazuma Kamachi Official Website: http://www.project-index.net/ Cast: Atsushi Abe as Toma Kamijo Rina Satou as Mikoto Misaka Yuka Iguchi as Index Anri Katsu as Motoharu Tsuchimikado Kimiko Koyama as Komoe Tsukuyomi Kishô Taniyama as Stiyl Magnus Mamiko Noto as Aisa Himegami Nobuhiko Okamoto as Accelerator Nozomi Sasaki as Misaka's younger sister Rina Hidaka as Last Order Satomi Arai as Kuroko Shirai Shizuka Itou as Kaori Kanzaki Toshihiko Seki as Aleister Crowley Yoshihisa Kawahara as Pierce Aogami Yutaka Nakano as Frog doctor Plot: It continues from where season 1 left off. Toaru Majutsu no Index is set in Academy City, a technologically advanced Academic city located at western Tokyo which studies scientifically advanced superhuman students with powers, but is also set in a world where magic is also real. Tōma Kamijō is a student in Academy City whose right hand, the Imagine Breaker, has the ability to negate all magic and psychic powers, but also his own luck. One day he finds a young girl hanging on his balcony railing named Index. She is a nun from Necessarius, the secret magic branch of the Church of England, and her mind has been implanted with the Index Librorum Prohibitorum—103,000 forbidden magical books the Church has removed from circulation. His encounter with her leads him to meet others from the secret world of science and magic and an adventure with his friends where science and magic collide. Tōma's unusual power places him at the center of conflicts relating magicians and science-based espers in Academy City. As Tōma tries to help and protect his friends, he learns the people he knows are not as they appear and begins to attract the attention of magicians and espers alike as they try to unravel the secrets of Academy City and Index. (~General Synopsis of the Index series from WIKI~) My Thoughts: I'll be waiting for this one. |

Saw a mag scan apparently announcing this, but I wasn't sure if it's true since I don't read nipponese...
Wow, so Index is finally getting her own show this Fall. Hopefully it'll be more action packed and fast paced compared to railgun. @JCD You didn't get the joke pal. |
Already has one...hence, why this is season 2. |
So instead of season 3 of Shanna they're going for seaons two of this?

I got the joke. Seriously, I really hope they do have more Index in the second season. |
I must I wouldnt have a problem if there was no Index at all. I dont like her, she could vanish and it wouldnt matter.
From what I have heard about the novels she has been switched out with Touma as the main focus. Still, this is something positive to look forward to this Fall, along with the eventual Railgun 2 sometime next year if sales are good with Index 2.
To those who can read Japanese, on the site that was provided for the series, what is listed in the small blue box with the link heading to AT-X, the broadcaster? This post has been edited by destroyah on Jun 10 2010, 12:35 PM |

Yeah, I got the joke only after the blatant hints from Acci. Really didn't notice it in that way at first but Touma was always the main focus of the show with Index being the mascot. |

Whether Index 2 does good or not will have no impact on whether or not Railgun gets its seconds season. I can't recall if it was the director of Index or the light novel's author said that they liked Misaka more anyways as a character. The only thing that eludes me from believing that there will be a second season of Railgun is the fact that they marked the typical "Fin" at the end of the last episode, indicating a potential end of the animated franchise. I don't recall if they did this in Index or not. If so, then the chances of Railgun getting a second season is rather high as it clearly trumped Index in all aspects. However, as I said in the Railgun thread, the earliest we will be getting Railgun season 2 will probably be Fall 2011 or Spring 2012 |
Thats a good prediction, I'm thinking it will be more like Spring 2012 but I would rather it be Fall 2011 because I really think J.C. Staff should do Shana 3 before Railgun 2 imo and hope its the case. However, the thing is that all Shana, Index and Railgun seasons have started in the FALL aka October. I believe there will be a Railgun 2 because of its popularity but Shana 3 is way more anticapted out of the 3 franchises. |
Let's see for JC Staff's to continue list, we have Index and Railgun second seasons, Shana's third season, and of course Lousie's fourth season. To be honest I only know that 3 of these for series will get another season. Well two of them are rather obvious at this time of course.
Although with the way things have been in anime by them showing cameos and whatnot of the Louise series especially in thier current work they are doing makes me believe that they are trying to hype it enough for people to nag at them for Louise's fourth season. Anyways back to Index I just noticed something in the first season, that in the first OP sequence they actually do show Saten-san along with Uiharu, but they don't really have much in the actual series though. So I'm guessing that's why they decied to run with Railgun. As for Railgun, well once the manga finishes the "Sister" Arc and goes further with that I'm sure they'll continue it with no problems. I mean for the Index series they did do a short filler arc in the middle of it all so I'm sure they'll add a unique filler story for the next season of Railgun and possibly Index as well. ![]() - Miko Miko Mode Oni Version - Yes, I do have a red riding hood complex... Just saw the Index II PV raw that was upped on Nyaa and..... WOW! I think season 2 is going to really surpass season 1 and probably the Railgun series combined.
I really need to go back through the Index series since I never had the chance to finish it (will be on top of my list as of now), however I can assume they must have carried over some of those characters as well as the 4 girls from Railgun. It looks very intriguing and a bit dark to be honest. In contrast to Railgun which seemed to take place with some shades of darkness, Index II (at least from the PV) seemed to have a more dark aura to it. |
Oddly enough the only time that Uiharu and Saten-san were ever shown were during both OP credits for Index and that was about it. All that aside I think the manga is that far enough ahead of itself to do a second season now. Although I'm not sure entirely since I only know what has been translated so far.
As for the Railgun manga series it's finally near the climax of the "Sisters" Arc, so I'm expecting a second season there once they are mid way into the next arc here. In any case with this series we are going t expect a bit more Biribiri here, and besides if the two girls from the Railgun series makes a full blown appearance in this season I'd be shocked. ![]() - Miko Miko Mode Oni Version - Yes, I do have a red riding hood complex... A really nice PV. Now Im really looking forward to it since it promises a lot of action.
And a lot of new beautiful women (including Misakas family it seems) together to already known beautis like Kaori, Linda and Aiho. But still I hope there isnt much Index in it since she s*cks big time. Oh and Accelerator is in on the action too, but what is with that strange collar? Is he beeing controlled? |
Well if I remember correctly Accelerator is still recovering from being shot in the head while saving Misaka Misaka's life. So he's recovering with a little help of the "sisters" if I remeber what was stated in season one and the manga correctly.
In any case do we have a set date as to when this series starts rolling? ![]() - Miko Miko Mode Oni Version - Yes, I do have a red riding hood complex... First air date is set to October the 8th. We should have subs by about 2-3 days later. Railgun OVA should be set to come out around the end of November to Mid December.
What I'm curious about is whether some of the scenes dealing with Accelerator get censored out. Won't leave any spoilers other than the fact that they will be relatively bloody. Edit: To explain Accelerators collar, you might say that it allows him to walk. He is technically paralyzed from the hip down. Heaven Canceller (Frog faced doctor) is still putting him through treatments. The sisters do all the calculation work that is necessary for him to continue to use his powers. He may eventually make a complete recovery, though that is to be seen. This post has been edited by destroyah on Sep 07 2010, 01:50 AM |

Ok after seeing the preview I have to say that I guess there was a reason why they did the Railgun series before doing this now. It seems that I'm going to get more of my lovely Saten-san here.
Also, you can never go wrong with tossing in more nuns into this series for no apparent reason, since if you ask me it makes sense that there would be nuns in this series. In any case having a bit more of Index in this series might be a good thing if her character is done correctly though. ![]() - Miko Miko Mode Oni Version - Yes, I do have a red riding hood complex... i just notice this. doesnt IMAGINE-BREAKER sound weird. i mean it image breaker sound alot better.
i think Imagine-breaker sounds good because it breaks magic and supernatural powers and the name seems to describe this nicely, it breaks imagination. well i might be wrong about this but this are my thoughts on the matter. the PV makes me excited to watch second season, cant w8 for it I love anime. |
Well, Image Breaker sounds more like a skill that some creepy otaku use when they discover their beloved idol or 2D wives being a non-virgin (destroying CDs, manga, poster etc) |
