Risas ep wasnt that bad, even though it really was too short. I really cant understand why Junichi wants to date her, she has "Big Trouble" written all over her. And why didnt one of the six girls ask Junichi if its true he has a girlfriend. A bit unrealistic. But at least we now know why he was stood up and that it probably was better for him.

Overall this series gets an 8/10. It was a risk doing it with the reset but I think its better than Junichi screwing around with everyone at the same time. But because of that it lacked a lot in the jealousy department.

The Last episode was rushed, and yes there was an element of creepiness, but in a way love makes us do silly and outrageous things.. Even if it may become 'for their own good' down the line.

I enjoyed the series as a whole, and even if the last episode wasn't the pinnacle I hoped for, it did make for a nice 'gift' on Christmas~

I didn't even bother watching 25 as I knew it was about Risa, and she's the stalker. Not really interested in that and as other people have already said, it comes across as weird and creepy no matter what the intentions are. Plus, one ep vs. three for all the other girls? Whatever. I decided to leave this series on a good note.

I liked the arc with his best gal friend (sex-hair, her name slips my mind) and Tsukasa the best. Rihoko's was just awful, and not only about the ending. Her character is so unlikeable to me. The only thing that made Sae's worth it was her outfit at the theatres lolz. The order probably would've had a bigger impact on me if it was more thoughtful. Putting two relatively silly arcs first kind of deflated the series and I couldn't take the dramatic moments seriously.

Besides being critical, I generally enjoyed the series.. for a school-life dating sim game turned harem anime, I guess.

I agree. Episode 25 was too rushed and due to that it lacked the atmosphere it needed to come across. Still this episode did have some good points: now we know what happened at the date 2 years ago and with whom it was. However it didn't give me the feeling like the previous arcs did. Also how can he react to Risa's behaviour in this way? It really felt like the writers chose the easiest way out. Even if this arc of Risa is just an extra they should have made it into a good story. A big disappointment to this otherwise good series.

Overall the series was good even if i don't like this type of arc plot. The best was the one from Kaoru for me. Followed by Haruka. To say the worst one is sadly Rihoko...it could have been the best but that ending was so bad. Nothing gained in the end..why did we bother to watch if the writers don't dare to make an ending?
Risa's arc is too short to judge and sadly felt like an impulsive idea of the writers. Hopefully they will make a rerun of this disaster arc.
In the end i think i'll give a 7 out of 10. If the writers didn't make a mess of Rihoko's and Risa's arc it would have been an 8.5...Too bad..

Motos: you should ask for anime recommendations in the Anime recommendation forum. Not here in the forum destined for this series.

Sorry about asking. As I wrote, I don't watch that much and so I did not know about the Anime recommendation forum. On the other hand a recommendation from people from this forum (Amigami SS) would have more meaning to me than from those on the Anime recommendation forum since after reading some of your entries, I feel I know you a little bit more than those on the other forum. In the end, despite my asking, if nobody answers, it really doesn't matter.

@motos. It all depends on which anime you like. In the anime recommendation forum a lot of good anime romantic series have been mentioned. I would suggest going to this forum and look for them. I will put up a small list there for you with some suggestions.

Killer_ossi has a good point with the Big point and the other girls. The rush to end this episode seriously hampered that part. It is exactly the part which i didn't like in the episode. If they made that part anew with more time it could have been a lot better. Do we get another extra episode?? I heard some rumors that Junichi's sister also gets an episode.

And then there are the 6 OVAs from the DVD-/Bluray-Release where everyone gets a few minutes too.

I decided to give the series a 6/10. This is because although I really enjoyed the Haruka, Ai and Tsukasa arcs, the rest were just awful. Granted Kaoru's wasn't too bad. I felt it was realistic in some ways, but at times I was bored watching it. Which is a shame, since Kaoru was a great character and I enjoyed all of her small appearances during the other girls arcs, especially when she was backing up Tsukasa when the rest of the class shunned her.
Sae's arc..... yeah, I was bored out of my mind and I felt really irritated every time she opened her mouth. I literally had to force myself to sit down and watch the whole thing. Not a good sign
I didn't think Rihoko was too bad as a character, but her arc did suck. Mainly because she was the only girl who didn't get together with Junichi. I wonder, is that because she is considered "fat" by Japanese standards? Do fat girls just get the "lets stay friends" ending? I mean it can't be because they are childhood friends and he just doesn't see her in a romantic way... in the game I am sure they get together, so why couldn't it happen here? Also the amount of times she mentioned dieting was getting on my nerves. Especially since she never seems to go through with it. Hah, maybe it bothered me because its a quality in my self that I don't like Still I don't eat nearly as much cakes as she does, and considering how much she eats I think her figure isn't too bad.
I wish I could give this series a 7/10, but there were too many instances when I felt bored or annoyed at something. Therefore it stays at 6/10 for me.

After getting bored halfway through the show, I've finally managed to finish it. If I were to rate the arcs, here's the order from best to worst:
Tsukasa >>>>>>>> Haruka > Kaoru = Sae >>> Ai > Risa >>>>>> Rihoko.

And now for my explanation/review: There's really not much to argue for Tsukasa's arc. Not only was the arc the most dramatic and one with a proper conclusion, Tsukasa's arc had the best plot twists in the show given her "unexpected/yandere/tsundere" personality. There were a few flaws however, including as to what Tsukasa actually scribbled in her notebook and why she was on bad terms with her sister. The show never really dived deep enough regarding the matter and I'm rather disappointed. To be honest, they should have just scrapped Risa's arc in the TV run and gave Tsukasa the fifth episode while making Risa's arc into an OVA in addition to Miya's. Had they done this I'm sure this would have given Tsukasa's arc a ull 10/10 with proper plot and closure.
Next up as a distant second is Haruka's arc. I would say it's a rather awkward arc with very weird fetish material, but like Tsukasa's arc, it had a relatively proper closure compared to the other characters. While the time skip annoyed me quite a bit, it was better than Kaoru' and Sae's arc where they ended up remaining as more or less friends despite saying that they are going out with Junichi, and don't get me even started on Rihoko's arc. That was so boring that I was hoping it would pass by quickly. So much for the childhood friend. Ai's arc was also relatively boring, but actually had some meaning to it with Ai having to decide between Junichi or her passion for swimming. Risa's arc was interesting and is the extra arc in the game. While it's nice to see everything unveiled, as said before, it's not the best way to end the series given how they were presenting everything already. It would have been better as an extra OVA.

As a bit of trivia, the arcs actually follow different endings of the game. Each character has 4 different endings (except Risa's): Best, Good, Normal, and Bad. Haruka's, Kaoru, and Sae all had Best endings, Ai's is an altered version of her Bad end, Rihoko's is a toned down/altered version of her Good ending, and Tsukasa's is of course Best ending.

Animation wise was very pretty for this show. While it seemed like typical school-life romance drawings, when compared to the source material, I'd say it's quite accurate, though I did notice a few times when Tsukasa's face was drawn awkwardly and Haruka's headband was a bit off. There was also times when Ai looked too much like Miya.

Music and sound wise, I'd say the OPs are great. They really fit the show and had very nice rhythms. The ending themes were only good for Haruka's, Kaoru's, and Tsukasa's, and to some extent Ai's (since you know, it's by Yukana). The rest were bad. Seiyuus were generally well picked for this show, though they kinda just redid their roles from the game.

Character development is relatively solid since the show had an omnibus format and really spent a solid 4 episodes for pretty much all characters. Of course, the main exceptions are Rihoko, and to some extent Ai and Kaoru.

Enjoyment? This was a killer. As expected from my preliminary review of this show back in July, Amagami SS was going to be a show where I enjoyed certain arcs and felt I needed to headdesk the others. The biggest problem with this show was basically all arcs prior to Tsukasa's and after Haruka's were relatively boring for me. That's right episodes 5 through 20 were all pretty bad. While Kaoru's and Sae's were okay for the most part, the fact that this show really followed a parabolic trend really bothered me. One could argue and say the show went in with a bang and went out with a bang, but there is still in the middle you know

Overall, Amagami SS is definitely unique in its storytelling manner. The only other show to have done this is Yosuga no Sora, which premiered in Fall 2010, a cour after Amagami SS had began airing. While the styles are not entirely the same, I would have to say I enjoyed Yosuga no Sora much more, and definitely went out with a bigger bang than Amagami SS. Both shows had weak middle arcs, and both had strong beginnings, but the conclusion of the show is what really sets them apart. If anything, Amagami SS is very similar to Yosuga no Sora as the whole point of the omnibus was really to set up for the "main focus" character: Tsukasa and Sora respectively.

Second season announced.
No idea what they are going to do about the plot (bad endings maybe? let's hope not :I), but I do hope that they give Rihoko a better ending since she was my favorite girl.

I am not sure either what to expect from this second season. There are no more girls as it seems. Maybe we are going to get one big story this time? If not then i do hope that Rihoko does get the good ending. In the previous season she had the worst possible arc. All the other girls got into a relationship with him but she was just the same old childhood friend as in the beginning of the arc. Even if she did have the best motive of getting close to him as she liked him from the very beginning. Maybe in addition something more from Risa and Miya would also be nice.

So finally the question "What is Amagami SS+ plus?" is answered. It plays after christmas with him dating the girls, just in reverse order and fewer eps. Probably two eps for each of the girls. I just hope we get enough Kaoru, Hibiki and Maya. Oh and Ayatsuji and Haruka. The rest is nice to look at but more or less wasted time since the time is better spent on the above mentioned.

Kurosawa would be a nice antagonist if it werent for Ayatsuji as her enemy who will look through her pretty easily. And she knows Junichi and how hes unable to defend himself in such situations. At least thats what I think will happen.

So it looks like Junichi found his ideal career... to be a porn mag photographer

I wasn't sure if I was going to watch this or not, but due to slim pickings this winter season, I decided I'd give this a try. In the first season I liked Tsukasa and Haruka best, and I'm glad they decided to go with Tsukasa first this time around. I don't care much for the plot, I think I just enjoy watching Tsukasa's different facial expressions, especially her annoyed look

Like nijlandp, I also hope Rihoko will get a better ending this time around. She sure got the short end of the stick last time....

This was actually revealed a while back. The new staff claimed that all the arcs will be 2 episodes each and serve as anime original epilogues to the original ones of the original series. Personally, I dislike this as I found the original series to be fine as is. Tsukasa's arc and Haruka's arc are likely the only ones worth watching so I'm likely going to find myself bored once again between the gaps....

Funny that they're not only using the exact same animation quality but also the same music too (not counting OP/ED).

Furthermore, and as expected, Tsukasa's arc starts the series off with a bang but whether or not the arc will conclude properly this week and whether or not the remaining arcs can hold on to this momentum remains to be seen...

So this is the end of the Ayatsuji arc already. It was a very nice continuation of the first series arc. Still there were a few glitches. For example why does Ayatsuji's rival want to steal Jun away from her? We get to see her act when she has lost to Ayatsuji which give the impression that she likes Jun. But how did she get like that? Did he do something for her? No clue at all about that. The bathroom part also was pretty simple. To have her wear a swimsuit was to be expected. I hoped for a more daring reaction from Ayatsuji.

So next Rihoko. Hopefully we get the thing i hope for: a confession. She had the worst ending in the first season: friends even though she was the one who liked him from the very start. The writers really ruined the whole series with that arc.
Maybe we get a second chance now. A confession at the end of the first episode to which we get a second episode in which they get together with a proper future ending.

Already the end of Ayatsuji arc ? Really ? Too bad... The arc was really well constructed and I'm satisfied with its ending. But I really wanted to slap that damn Ayatsuji-san's rival... I really hate girls like her xD The end of the 1st episode brought a big climax but it was "erased" so easily ? Mmmhhh...

The bath event was awesome ! Too bad she wore a sukumizu =p Would have been better if Junichi mixed his fantasy and the reality =p Well in the end, it is a satisfying arc.


So each arc will only have 2 episodes ? It's quite weak for an epilogue =/

Well it's not like Tsukasa's arc really needed more of an epilogue since we already saw it in the original series.

How do they intend to do an epilogue of the first girl from the original series, considering the time leap used?  On a side note, after 26 eps I still can't recall their names without looking them up

Well I was expecting something along the line with Clannad After Story. For Ayatsuji, it could have been an arc where you see Junichi studying like a mad man to go to the same university as Ayatsuji and then failing the entrance exam or something like that ! Imo, it would have been better like that...

Haruka's arc is also the other arc I questioned when this series was announced. Unless Haruka seriously stays back a year given the hints (which I doubt will happen) it will be weird to see how her arc continues since she technically graduates right after that Christmas night.

Hmmm...maybe this is why they're doing it in reverse order to get some time to think of material...

Its a nice ending for the Ayatsuji arc. It was great to see that Ayatsuji saw through that "trick". "Trick" because surprisingly that other girl seems to have feelings for him. Thats really confusing so I dont know if that was necessary.
I really loved the bathroom scene since it as full of emotion.

@nijlandp: No the writers didnt ruin it with her ending, it would be more on the line of it got worse because she was even there since out of the 6 girls shes the least likeable by a very big gap to the others.

@Kit: I think Harukas arc will be about the problems of her going to university while hes still in Highschool, especially the problems if she goes to a university in another town or even country.

Btw the Student Council President Position seems to be a really popular one in Japan since its featured that often. To be honest while I was in school I never knew who was it or what he did, if he did anything. I dont think he has much power here in germany. And never saw a vote for it.
But overall all this social stuff isnt present here like after school clubs and you never had this whole "sempai" thing since you barely even knew someone from the other classes.
